This solution will make installing smart blinds more affordable and also prevent an unnecessary amount of disruption during the installation phase. Whilst the design of the cassette case will differ from one manufacturer to another, there tends to be multiple colours available and you sometimes have the option to inlay fabric into the cassette case too, ensuring that it perfectly matches the blind you’re installing. 

Blind pockets

When installing smart blinds during the renovation or building stage, blind pockets are the slickest option. These blind pockets will essentially hide the workings of the smart blind in the ceiling and leave a narrow slit for the blind to run down through. Usually, blind pockets are 130mm x 100mm in size as a minimum but a 100mm x 100mm version is available.

Again, this concealment solution involves the workings of the blind being hidden in the ceiling, but it doesn’t require as much space as blind pockets. 

In addition to being both a budget-friendly and space-saving solution, blind recesses are also ideal for rooms like the bedroom where blackout blinds are going to be used. It is easy to create channels on either side of the window recess for the blind to run down and these channels will help to prevent light bleeding around the side of the blind. An experienced builder will be able to advise you on how wide and deep the blind recesses need to be, and this will differ depending on the type of blind that you’re wanting to install. We quite often see the blind being recessed and combined with plantation shutters to provide extra privacy and control of light.
